Columbia City Ballet, now South Carolina Ballet, proudly presents Motown Ballet, a multimedia performance inspired by the musical legends of the 60?s and 70?s. This mixed repertoire evening will blend a variety of dance genres such as jazz, hip hop, modern, contemporary, and classical ballet. Under the leadership of State Jazz Ambassador, Mark Rapp, this production will be accompanied with live music. William Starett?s original motivation was inspired by South Carolina Ballet?s (Columbia City Ballet) mission of diversity and inclusion. No matter your background, we can come together to love and embrace the fantastic, inspiring music of Motown. Motivated by the messages of joy, the rhythms, and the exuberance of the exceptional Motown artists, the sound of rejoicing is a sure-fire way to move the audience into elation.
